Koko Tools privacy policy Jānis Rubļevskis (koko) / 07.03.2026. 16:43 / #Tehnoloģijas / 0 komentāri

This Privacy Policy describes how Koko Tools handles your data. As a local-first desktop application, Koko Tools is designed with a "privacy by default" approach, ensuring that you remain in control of your information.

1. Information Collection
Koko Tools does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers owned by the developers.

   * Local Data: Any notes you write, book calculations you perform, or application settings you configure are stored exclusively on your local device.
   * Google Drive Data: If you choose to enable the optional Google Drive synchronization feature, the app will request access to your Google Drive via the official Google API.
       * Scope of Access: The app only accesses files it creates or files you specifically authorize for synchronization (typically your notes and configuration files).
       * Authentication: Authentication is handled securely via OAuth2. Your Google credentials (password) are never seen or stored by Koko Tools. A secure "refresh token" is stored locally on your machine to maintain the connection.

  2. How Your Information is Used
The data processed by the application is used solely for the following purposes:
   * Core Functionality: To display your saved notes and calculate book page conversions.
   * Synchronization: If enabled, to upload and download your local app data to your personal Google Drive account so you can access it across multiple devices.

  3. Data Storage and Security
   * Local Storage: Your data is stored in your user home directory (e.g., ~/.config/koko-tools/ on Linux). Security of this data depends on your operating system's file permissions and your own device security.
   * Cloud Storage: When using Google Drive sync, your data is stored within your own Google account. It is subject to Google’s privacy and security protocols.
   * No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to any third parties. Your data stays between your device and your chosen cloud provider (Google).

  4. Third-Party Services
Koko Tools uses the Google Drive API for its synchronization feature. By using this feature, you are also bound by Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

  5. Your Rights and Data Control
   * Deletion: You can delete your local data at any time by removing the application's configuration folder. You can also delete the synchronized data directly from your Google Drive.
   * Revocation: You can revoke Koko Tools' access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account Security settings (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions).

  6. Changes to This Policy
As Koko Tools is an experimental project, this policy may be updated as new features are added. We recommend checking the repository for the latest version.  ---
